PIAA Motorsports is one of the most successful racing teams in the world, with a storied history dating back to the 1960s. The team has won numerous championships and races across a variety of disciplines, including sports car racing, touring car racing, and rally racing.

PIAA Motorsports was founded in 1963 by Yoshiaki Igarashi, a passionate racing fan who wanted to build a team that could compete at the highest level. Igarashi started the team with a small budget and a few used cars, but he quickly gained a reputation for his innovative engineering and his knack for developing young drivers. In the early years, PIAA Motorsports focused on sports car racing. The team won its first major victory in 1967 at the Fuji 1000 Hours race. In the 1970s and 1980s, PIAA Motorsports became a dominant force in Japanese touring car racing, winning numerous championships. In the 1990s, PIAA Motorsports expanded its operations to include rally racing.

The team quickly became one of the top teams in the World Rally Championship, winning several races and finishing on the podium numerous times. PIAA Motorsports is known for its innovative engineering and its commitment to developing young drivers. The team has launched the careers of some of Japan's most successful racing drivers, including Keiichi Tsuchiya, Naoki Hattori, and Shinji Taguchi.
