Sand Land is an upcoming CGI anime movie based on the manga of the same name by Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest. The movie is set in a post-apocalyptic world where water is scarce, and the supply is controlled by a greedy king. Sheriff Rao sets out to find a long-lost lake, and he is joined by the king of the demons' son, Beelzebub, and his assistant, Thief. The unlikely trio must face dragons, bandits, and the king's army to find the water and save the world. Sand Land is scheduled to be released in Japan on August 18, 2023.
The movie is being produced by Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga, and Anima, and it will be directed by Toshihisa Yokoshima. The cast includes Mutsumi Tamura as Beelzebub, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Rao, Chō as Thief, Satoshi Tsuruoka as General Are, and Nobuo Tobita as General Zeu.
