This officially licensed Japan Tohoku Rakuten Eagles Earth Green Masahiro Tanaka item was issued during special event home games in the 2022 season. It is in excellent condition and makes a great collection piece.
Masahiro Tanaka is a well-known Japanese professional baseball pitcher celebrated for his consistency, accuracy, and leadership on the mound. He started his career with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) in 2007, quickly becoming one of the league’s top talents. Tanaka’s breakthrough came in 2013 when he posted a historic 24–0 record, earned the Pacific League MVP, the Eiji Sawamura Award, and led Rakuten to its first Japan Series championship, where he was named Japan Series MVP. Throughout his NPB career, he has been selected for multiple NPB All-Star Games and has maintained one of the highest winning percentages in league history.
In 2014, Tanaka joined the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball (MLB), where he played successfully for seven seasons from 2014 to 2020. He was selected as an MLB All-Star in 2014 and 2019, and gained recognition for his clutch postseason plays and distinctive splitter pitch. Throughout his tenure in New York, Tanaka recorded over 1,000 strikeouts and contributed to the Yankees' multiple playoff appearances. He returned to the Rakuten Golden Eagles in 2021 and continues to be a key player and respected figure in both Japanese and international baseball.
